Window Cleaning

Glass is the one exterior surface people look through rather than at, which is why it shows neglect faster than anything else on the house.

Exterior glazing on a dark rendered two-storey home

Exterior glass collects the same airborne film as the walls around it, plus salt closer to the bay and mineral deposit from sprinklers and run-off. Frames and tracks hold grit that scratches the glass if it is dragged across during cleaning.

Glass is cleaned with the frames and tracks, not around them. Where the exterior is being washed at the same time, windows are done after the walls so nothing settles back onto clean glass.

What’s included

  • Frames, sills and tracks cleaned, not just the glass
  • Sequenced after house washing where both are in scope
  • Screens handled carefully and refitted
  • Water-fed pole for upper-level glass where access allows
  • A check over the finished glass in daylight before we leave

Surfaces we handle

  • Exterior glass, ground and upper level within safe reach
  • Frames, sills and sliding tracks
  • Security screens, removed where practical
  • Glass balustrades and pool fencing
  • Louvres and awning windows

Surface limitations

Cleaning removes what is on the glass. It does not remove what is in it. Mineral etching from long-term sprinkler contact, scratches, and the fine pitting that comes from age or salt exposure will not lift, and pressure will not help. Those are identified at the assessment so you know before rather than after.

Questions

Window Cleaning,
answered.

Do you clean the inside as well?

Stride is an exterior cleaning business, so the standard scope is external glass, frames and tracks. Interior work is not part of the usual offer.

Can you reach second-storey windows?

Usually, with a water-fed pole from ground level. Where a window cannot be reached safely from the ground and there is no safe alternative, it is excluded from the scope and you are told which ones at the assessment.

Why do some marks stay after cleaning?

Because they are in the glass rather than on it. Long-term sprinkler contact leaves mineral etching, and older glass near the water can be pitted. Neither responds to cleaning at any pressure.
